Sun Direct elevates Tony D'Silva to the post of CEO

Sun Direct, the direct-to-home brand, has announced the elevation of Tony D'Silva from the post of chief operating officer (COO) to the newly formed designation of chief executive officer (CEO). D'Silva assumes his new role with immediate effect.

D'Silva joined Sun Direct as its COO in September 2007. At the time of filing this report, it could not be ascertained who would take over the responsibilities handled by D'Silva till now.

Prior to joining Sun Direct, D'Silva was associated with STAR India. He joined STAR India in 2002 as executive vice-president, distribution, before being elevated to the post of head of distribution. He has also worked with Zee Networks as head of international operations.

D'Silva has also been associated with Modi Entertainment Networks as its CEO; Godfrey Phillips, a tobacco major and Reckitt & Coleman.

Of the 20 million DTH subscribers in India, Sun Direct commands more than 25 per cent of the pie with a customer base of 5.3 million.
